Crying

I always cry at weddings. And I'm not just quoting the song from Sweet Charity. Every single wedding ceremony I've been to has left me in tears and it terrifies me. How am I going to get through my own wedding?!?! I can't even listen to the song I'm walking down the isle without a box of tissue handy. My poor makeup person better be ready for me.

Hoarder

Ok, so this isn't a picture of my house... but it might as well be. I've recently come to terms with being a little bit of a hoarder. I REALLY have a hard time getting rid of things. I seem to find sentimental value in everything that comes my way. Movie ticket stubs, old Valentines from grade school, pictures that people have drawn me, and various articles of clothing. Am I REALLY going to wear those light blue Dickies that I bought in High School again? Do I need to keep all the cell phones and glasses that I've ever had? Twelve different Tinkerbell Barbie Dolls?!?! REALLY?!?! Don't even get me started on those stuffed animals...

The problem is, I know exactly where I got my problem. Velveteen Rabbit was my favorite book growing up, Brave Little Toaster was my favorite movie, and when Toy Story came out, it only made my situation worse. Even though I know it's not possible, somewhere in the back of my mind I still see that sad little look on my dolls faces as I send them off to Goodwill. Truly heartbreaking.

Now that I'm getting married, I really need to de-clutter. I have a partner now, and I'm sure he doesn't want to see my Peter Pan posters hanging in our living room. I will be sharing a closet, so those scripts I've been stashing from all my high school plays need to go. UGH! Why is this so hard? But no need to fear... it's getting easier day by day. I have a friend who sees my problem, and is here to help. She's my Jimminy Cricket and knocks sense into me when I insist on keeping the candy wrappers from my Spice Girl Lollipops. Wish me luck! Maybe someday I'll throw away my perfect attendance awards from Elementary School.

"But why would you give me away? Don't you love me anymore?"

Realization

Wedding talk has been all the rage lately. I talk it about it at the dentist's office, I talk about it with my friends, and I talk about it at work. With all this talk, I've realized that this wedding is going to be here very, VERY soon. I've been all about the DIY lately, and decided to go that route for all the decorations. No offense to him, but the husband to be CANNOT be trusted with a pair of scissors. (Sorry babe, it's true and we both know it.) So I have a LOT of work ahead of me.

Here's the list of DIY:
1.) 1,000 paper cranes. I'm almost done making them... but can't cross it off the list until I make them into strands.

2.) 150 personalized paper cupcake place cards. Sounds easy enough... but each one takes about 15 minutes of drawing, cutting, folding, and gluing. I also have to figure out what to put inside of them.

3.) Table numbers. For the tables of course.

4.) Scrapbook. We've decided to display our relationship for all to enjoy. I have one book done already, but I'm halfway through the second.

5.) Wedding Website. So many typos, so little time.

6.) Centerpieces. Right now they are in various pieces in various boxes scattered throughout the house, and garage.

7.) Favors. I'll let these be a surprise. Hint: Thinking about them is making me even more hungry than I already am.

8.) Card box.

9.) Figuring out how to decorate the place card table, and cake table.

Whoa... this list ended up being longer than I expected...

Weekend

This was a quite a weekend!

It started out early Saturday morning with our much anticipated cake design/reality TV debut. (Note: The cake above is not ours.) Turns out, the filming doesn't start until next week. (Wah wah waaaah.) Even though we didn't make the cut for the tv show, be sure to check it out July 5th on TLC. I forgot what it's called, but it's about raising triplets at a super popular bakery. On a happier note, we picked our cake flavors, designed the cake, and we're good to go!

After that, we decided that an adventure was the perfect way to celebrate another thing crossed off the wedding list, so off we went to Culver City to get tacos. Not just any tacos, but Tito's Tacos. Apparently they are VERY well known, and VERY popular. They were pretty good, but I think Jack In The Box are still my favorite. Gross huh?

Later that evening we went to a Senior Center with Grandpa for Casino Night. We had such a great time an even won a door prize. Hooray!

Then, a Bachelorette Party. (Not quite as wild as the one pictured above, but just as fun.) We had SOOOO much fun loading up my soon to be sister in law with all kinda of booze. It was the perfect way to welcome her into the family. I can't believe my brother is getting married in TWO WEEKS.

Sunday we went to an Angels game where we watched them lose. I don't want to talk about that anymore.

All in all, it was an amazing weekend, and as of today, we have five more months until we get married!!! HOORAY!

Honeymoon

What do all of these images have in common?

IT'S WHERE WE'RE GOING ON OUR HONEYMOON!!!!
We are going to spend a day in Rome seeing the sights, THEN, we just aboard a Princess Cruise on the Ocean Princess, and see different parts of Italy, France, and Spain. I am BEYOND excited. I have never been on a cruise, and the husband-to-be has never been to Europe. It couldn't be more perfect. Our ship only has 600 passengers, AND we got the last room that was available with a balcony. I already picked out the luggage I'm taking, and it's all I can do to keep myself from packing. I just need to hang in there and try to be patient.

Cake Goodies

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I am completely in love with our wedding cake. It's so fun and unique, and it totally represents us.

Now how do we cut the cake? I have NO problem using a plastic knife and fork and diving right in, but that's not very classy. Ask anyone who knows me and they'll agree, I'm pretty darn picky. Today I started looking online and found this super cute cake cutting set. Love it. It's simple and wont go out of style.

Now tradition also says we need a cake topper, and so the search began. I started looking at classic wedding cake bride and groom toppers, but there was something that was very wrong... ALL the brides are BLONDE. I changed my Google search to look for "Brunette Cake Toppers," and ALL the brides were African American. Sigh. After more searching, I came across the comical ones. The bride dragging the groom across the cake by the foot, or the bride wearing the pants while the groom stands in his boxers... they just weren't us. We're both excited to be getting married, and poking fun at commitment isn't at all what we wanted to do.

And then I found it.

Not only are they both brunette, but it's SUPER cute and totally us! Love it!

Earthquake

I hate earthquakes. But then, who doesn't? No matter where you live, it seems that you can't escape natural disasters. Tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis... it's just too scary. Last night during Easter dinner, an earthquake hit. This one was different than most earthquakes I've been in. It seems like the house was a big boat just swaying back and fourth. It was almost hypnotic. As we sat around the table staring at each other and rocking back and fourth, my mom said, "If it keeps shaking like this, get down on the ground." And yet we continued to sit. It's almost comical, if it wasn't so terrifying. Finally after a few seconds the shaking stopped, my heart rate went down, and we went back to normal life.

Earthquake safety has changed so much since we were kids. We were always told to stand in doorways, or duck under tables and beds. Finally they realized that swinging doors broke limbs, and doorways collapse with the rest of the house. If you crawled under a desk or bed, you were flattened. Now the thing to do is duck NEXT TO a tall piece of furniture like a couch or bed. That way when the ceiling collapses, it creates on open triangle for you to be in when the debris leans across the couch and onto the ground.

Be safe everyone!

Easter

Mmm... Easter. It wasn't always my favorite holiday, but lately it's moved up the ranking as one of my favorites. I remember waking up as a kid on Easter morning and following the trail of chewed up carrots to the small pile of rabbit poop at the bottom of the stairs. From there I began the hunt for my easter basket which was filled with goodies and candies. From there, we did the Easter Egg hunt where I always found more eggs than my brother. Now I'm older, and things have changed. The best thing about Easter today other than family? The food. Deviled Eggs: They're a new obsession of mine, and since making them for the first time for a picnic with the soon to be husband, they've been on my mind quite a bit. I'm totally making them this weekend. Strawberries: They are hands down my favorite fruit. When I was little, it was all I ever ate. Well, that and pizza. Every year my grandma would buy me a flat of strawberries and chocolate donuts, and that was all I would eat for a week. Cadbury Creme Eggs: I look forward to these all year. These sweet pieces of heaven set my teeth on fire, but they are always worth it. Reeses Eggs: I actually ate an entire bag of these just the other day! These are the only Reeses that I really truly enjoy. Someone just introduced me to the white chocolate ones... bliss. And there you have it! Hope you have an Easter just as special as you! (Exaggerated wink).

Maple

We are approaching the one year anniversary of the day we got our dog Maple. In honor of this historic occasion, we got her spayed. Finally.

Here she is in the car he moment we picked her up.

This may be TMI, but the three things in the world I can't stand are fish, boogers, and stitches. Caring for a dog filled with stitches has been an absolute nightmare. She stretches, rolls over on her back, and licks. SO GROSS. Anyway here are a couple cute pictures or her.
