Running


If there's anything in this world I dislike... it's running.  I remember coming up with all kinds of excuses in Elementary School to avoid running like, "I can't run Mr. Tipple, I'm dying."  He replied with, "All of us are.  Everyday you're a day closer to the day you die."  What a horrible thing to tell a fourth grader!

A few years back, I decided to look my dislike for running directly in the face and challenge it.  I was pretty desperate to lose weight, and dieting is not an option for me.  So I ran.  I dropped weight like crazy, slept better, and felt healthier.  Since running did so many positive things for me, why can't I get off the couch right now and go do it?  Maybe it's because I just polished off a bag of Oreos, or maybe it's because I have animals sleeping all around me.  Or maybe I'm still a little nervous about the creepy guy I ran into once who was possibly carrying a knife.  

I can sit here all day and make excuses, but the fact is, I've got a big vacation coming up that involves a little swimsuit.  Time to wrap the knees, tighten the laces, and hit the track.
